Simionis meet Simionis! Rome December 2009

My family flew from California, USA, to Rome last month and were able to meet some Simionis!

While we looked forward to meeting Daniela and Riccardo who both live and work in Rome, that was not able to happen.

Meanwhile, Silvia was somehow able to convince her parents to make the 7 hour trip from Veneto to meet us just for a day!  Oscar & Annalisa, drove down with Silvia and her sister Federica and we met for a favoloso lunch in Trastevere.  In addition to a great meal, we shared stories and some family background, then took an evening stroll around Rome. Although Rick and I have been learning Italian, we all kept Silvia busy as she was the only one fluent in both Italian and English.  We talked for hours! We had fun!  It was such a pleasure to spend the time with them.

The Cartigliano Simionis live about 30 minutes from where Rick's father grew up (Castelfranco) and we are planning to visit them as we continue to pursue finding relatives of Desiderio Simioni. Whether or not we find actual family members in Italy, we have already enhanced our lives with Simionis!

We have found our first family connection!

Silvia Simioni, (Family #7 from Cartigliano Italia), spent the afternoon with her nonni who helped her with details of her ancestors. In the process she has discovered she is cousins with Lucas, Massimiliano, Cristian, and their cousin Sergio! (Family #3, Italy)

I'm awaiting her details and will post them here. (see update below)

I am now more sure than ever that we will someday make a connection with Simionis outside of Italy!!

#7: Waiting for Silvia in Cartigliano, Italy?!

Silvia, oh Silvia..... Would you like to say HELLO/CIAO here, and tell us a little about your family???? Maybe add a family photo? At least a grandparent or two??? :) Is Cartigliano the town you live in now, or is it only where your Mother lives?

You could post in two languages! ....as soon as your school exams are over this week.
